Elected officials attend groundbreaking for Aviagen

The Brooks County Development Authority hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for Aviagen, a hatchery facility, at the Brooks County Industrial Park. Elected officials from the city and county, and BCDA board members were invited to attend.

James Maxwell, County Commissioner, said, “These new jobs are needed in this community – and I am happy that people from Brooks County will have this employment opportunity.”

Commissioner Maxwell was referring to the hundred new jobs expected to be created from this project.

Tiffany Holmes, BCDA Director, said, “I am glad to have the opportunity to have our elected officials on site to hear more about the project, and its benefits to our community. I look forward to keeping them updated on the progress of construction.”

Prefabricated concrete wall panels will be delivered over the coming weeks. The outer shell of the building will be quickly assembled, but the inner mechanical infrastructure will take the most time to complete. The company believes that the facility will be complete in late spring or early summer of next year, weather permitting.
