Accredited excellence. Aligned for opportunity.

Of course, accreditation and academic excellence are important to the accredited and award-winning Brooks County public school system, serving over 2,000 students in five well-equipped and expertly-staffed facilities. However, there’s one more “A+” that Brooks County is reaching for and achieving: Alignment of curriculum with industry needs. Collaborating closely with area industry, county educators are working to prepare Brooks County graduates for multiple career options and myriad opportunities, honing agile skillsets and a strategic mindset designed to meet the needs of global industry.

Add to that fact our strategic radius of higher education resources and it’s clear Brooks County is a great place to launch a career and a life, or to engage in life-long learning for richer vocational and personal success and satisfaction. Consider these options:

Within 30 minutes:

Valdosta State University: With its beautiful Spanish Mission-style architecture and grounds studded with palm trees and graced with an expanding outdoor art collection, VSU offers a picture-perfect setting for higher learning. However, it’s more than good looks that draw over 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students to this campus—students from all 50 states as well as international students from 76 different countries. The quality of academics means that the future is the picture of success for students in the University’s five colleges, which provide 56 undergraduate degree programs and over 40 graduate programs and degrees.

Wiregrass Georgia Technical College: The inaugural recipient of the Governor Sonny Perdue Award for Technical College of the Year, Wiregrass Georgia Technical College has been setting a standard of excellence since its inception. Offering over 100 programs including 37 associate degrees, WGTC is a premiere resource for residents throughout their lives, whether high school graduates looking to flow into the workforce quickly with an optimal global skillset, or middle managers or residents at mid-life looking to develop new skills for advancement.

Southern Regional Technical College: Another technical standout, SRTC offers over 150 programs implemented through classroom, laboratory, and online environments. SRTC means a strong start for graduates heading into the workforce or on to higher ed, thanks to partnerships that allow students to transfer credits to the University System of Georgia, including Albany State University, Thomas University, and Valdosta State University.

Less than an hour away:

Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College: For students seeking to change the world, ABAC is a powerful place to start, offering cutting-edge programs designed for global impact in biology, natural resource management (including forestry and wildlife), and the college’s innovative rural studies encompassing everything from arts and culture to business and economic development, from community and social affairs to writing and communication.

Less than two hours away: Bainbridge State, South Georgia State College, and a number of top-flight Florida universities including Florida State University and University of North Florida.
